North Lanarkshire Council is determined to improve the quality of life in places such as Coatbridge. As a result, it is getting behind the creation of a team tasked with fighting fly-tipping and litter. Print shops can often provide useful documentation and materials when organisations want to engage with the public. Council chief, Jim Logue said:
“Enough is enough – we are proposing radical action to tackle these problems head-on. Most residents take pride in their communities and want to see North Lanarkshire clear of litter and fly-tipping.”
The plan involves an investment of £245,000. Some of the resources should be allocated to tackling litter hotspots, while other funds are likely to boost partnerships working with schools and third sector organisations.
Full council approval is almost certain to be forthcoming soon. The hope is that progress on the ground will be made from the beginning of October. Unauthorised disposal of litter can worsen the problems associated with pollution.
Councillor Michael McPake explained that the new force is not going to take a narrow view of its responsibilities. Shrubs that are growing on roads and weeds which are spoiling pavements will receive attention. This type of action can limit flooding by enhancing the efficiency of drains.
For Councillor McPake, fly-tipping is an absolute disgrace. He is confident that the scheme will make a positive difference to the appearance of the area.Get a Free Quote for Print
