An employee normally based in a Coatbridge library, Lauren McIntyre, has been instrumental in getting local people involved in a summer book challenge. McIntyre is promoting The Great Bookish Menu. Readers across North Lanarkshire have been given the opportunity to broaden their literary interests.
McIntyre told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser:
βItβs fun pushing the boundaries of your usual reading choices β there are some great new themes this year and the chance of winning a book token at the end.β
Titles from different categories can be enjoyed. For example, readers are being encouraged to experiment with a selection of crime fiction written in Scotland. In addition, readers are being prompted to experience literature that was once banned.
During the disruption, a Borrowbox online facility has been used. This has enabled people to access audio Books via mobile devices and computers. Print shops can be helpful for organisations in the cultural sector, especially when working practices have to change to suit fresh circumstances.
Meanwhile, local librarian Chris Wilson has provided library users with suitable podcast recommendations. Wilson has also given advice in relation to the reading which is most appropriate for a period of quarantine.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Books
