North Lanarkshire Council would like school pupils within Coatbridge to try international recipes. The Food Explorer campaign is being rolled out across the council area. Print shops can be used to promote new initiatives in a variety of economic sectors. The hope is that children can be tempted to eat more vegetables and fresh fruit.
Stamps associated with the Food Explorer drive can be collected by pupils. Those children who acquire eight Stamps may participate in a prize draw. Everyone who secures eight Stamps will be given a pencil, while lucky winners might win a skateboard. Each skateboard comes with a helmet for safety reasons.
Anne Hanlon, a business manager, told the Motherwell Times:
“We’re always looking for new ways to increase the fresh fruit and vegetables in our school Menus. Our homemade tomato sauce, used for pastas and pizzas, includes three extra vegetables and is blended so that children don’t notice the difference.”
When it comes to the details of the fresh initiative, the food seems to be an exciting mix. Children will be exposed to tortilla triangles, lamb kofta, enchiladas, cherry tomatoes and vegetable crumble. Their energy levels should be increased by the consumption of savoury rice and flatbread.
Brakes is sponsoring the Food Explorer promotion. The children should be participating in the challenge until the end of the month.Get a Free Quote for Menus Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Stamps
