The genetic condition which Katie Traynor has interferes with her everyday life. There is no cure for it at the moment and Katie has had to endure numerous seizures. The development of Katie, in terms of talking and walking, has been affected. She has been forced to spend a lot of time in hospital. Jennifer Cochrane, the mother of James, is proud of his run for Reverse Retts. She told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser:
“James did really, really well. He’s not one for sports and when he said he wanted to take part I wasn’t sure he’d go through with it.”
James got his father to take a sponsor form to work. His father is employed at Luddon Construction. The firm came up with £500 to help Reverse Retts. In total, James secured £2,380 to assist in the search for a breakthrough.
Furthermore, James did not have to take on the challenge by himself. He had encouragement from his family on the way. Two step-siblings and a cousin accompanied him on the route in question.
