Care assistants start work in Coatbridge

New carers for Coatbridge residents are getting to work.

A Coatbridge-based branch of Mears has recruited additional care staff recently. The move was part of a North Lanarkshire strategy that increased overall personnel numbers by 25. This was a response to a jump in demand for care in the home.

The Coatbridge branch office manager is Nyree Doyle, who told the Daily Record:

“Care at home is a specialised service which enables older people and those less able, and sometimes those living alone, to have the services they require for an independent life in their own homes.”

Doyle pointed out that former hospital patients may require support in the community. She explained that individuals can gain from having help with ordinary activities. For Doyle, care delivery may limit the potentially negative health impact associated with social exclusion.

Mears is committed to the development of practical skills. A Coatbridge suite enables recruits to learn about stair lifts and hoists. In addition, the organisation pays for qualification-centred training packages. Stationery printers can help organisations prepare informative materials to distribute to relevant stakeholders.

An experienced care worker indicated that their job has several positive aspects. They maintained that their work is varied, while stressing that their activity has real social value. People who like operating with others can get a lot out of a career in care.
