Cancer help for Coatbridge residents

A charity is assisting Coatbridge residents living with cancer.

Patients who live in Coatbridge are being provided with kits by Cancer Support UK. The kits, which are free, are also available to people in nearby Airdrie. Print shops can be useful in the third sector, especially when charities want to engage with the public.

Three types of kit are accessible via the scheme. One of the kits is designed for people undergoing chemotherapy, while the other two general kits are divided by age group.

One strength of the initiative is that it has been informed by people who have experience of cancer. The kits can be delivered to the doors of those who are unwell. The chief executive at Cancer Support UK, Gemma Holding, told the Daily Record:

“Time and time again, we hear positive feedback directly from patients, as well as their families, friends and medical staff, about how well received their cancer kit has been - whether it’s a general cancer kit, chemo kit, or kids’ kit.”

Holding stressed that the emotional health of cancer patients can be boosted by the kits, and that sometimes a small item can mean a lot to someone who is experiencing a tough time. The kits can be ordered by the family or the friends of a person who is receiving treatment.
