Muse is the company that has been awarded this contract by Bury Council and it will be carried out as a joint venture between the two. The project will focus on the part of town that is currently dominated by the Longfield Centre, which is set to be knocked down. It will be replaced by a mixture of housing and various public amenities. The revised Plans submitted by Muse involve changes to both of those.
The number of homes built would be raised to 248, from the original total of 200. One quarter of them will be affordable homes. Meanwhile, the proposed library and village square have both been increased in size. Other planned amenities – including a community hub, shopping spaces and gymnasium – are the same as before.
