Beer lovers in Dorchester will want to mark a date in their diaries for next year, following the confirmation that a popular festival dedicated to beer is coming back to town.
The Dorchester Beerex is a festival that is put together by Dorchester Casterbridge Rotary Club and the West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). It is an event that has become a beloved fixture within the town, as well as a valuable charity fundraiser.
The primary organisation that will benefit from next year’s festival is Yeovil Free Wheelers, which delivers blood and other vital supplies to local hospitals by motorcycle.
There is also set to be an official sponsor once again, with Cerne Abbas Brewery fulfilling that role. This is one of the main creators of beers within the area. The total profit from this year’s event was £27,500, and the organisers will be hoping for a similar result next year.
Those who are putting together events like this festival sometimes use banner printing from shops in the area to help with the promotions.
The 2025 event will be the first to have a female chairwoman, Gemma Scott. She told the Dorset Echo:
“I feel personally honoured to have the role this year and help fly the flag for both Dorchester Casterbridge Rotary Club and West Dorset CAMRA.”
It will be held on 7 and 8 February.
