This event is called ‘The Let’s Go Fly! Kite Festival’ and it should have been held at the start of June. Dorchester Town Council was forced to cancel it though, as the wind and rain would have made kite flying impossible. Happily, it has proven to be simply a delay though, as a fresh date for the family festivities has now been pencilled in.
It will still be held at the Great Field and will still be free for anyone to take part in. The kite festival is being put together by the town council in collaboration with several partners. They are Dorchester Tourism Partnership, Poundbury Events and the White Horse Kite Flyers.
When it comes to spreading the word about changes to local events, Posters can be effective. Dorchester has poster printing outlets that can produce as many as the event organisers need.
According to the Dorset Echo, a festival spokesperson said:
“Dorchester Tourism Partnership is delighted to be working with the wonderful White Horse Kite Flyers to deliver some amazing kite displays and free kite making activities.”
The event will include stunt kite shows and stalls with refreshments and items to buy.
It has been rescheduled to be held on 25th July, from 11am to 4.30pm.
