These plans have been devised by Dorchester Tennis & Squash Club. It has submitted them to Dorset Council and the next stage will be a consultation. If the plans get the go ahead, it will be the very first padel facility in the town.
Padel is a sport that is rising in popularity around the world and that amounts to a blend of squash and tennis. The courts used for it are fully enclosed with fences and glass walls. One of the reasons for its popularity is that it is simple to master and ideal for both new and experienced players.
When local clubs add new amenities, they usually want to let people know about them. Flyers are a good way of doing that and Dorchester has shops that can handle flyer printing orders.
Dorchester Tennis & Squash Club is situated on Sawmills Lane. The new court is to be based there, but its chairman Alistair Clark told the Dorset Echo that the plans amounted to more than just another playing court:
“It is about introducing a sport that is incredibly accessible and inclusive, and giving more people the opportunity to get active, have fun and become involved in a local sports club.”
Dorset Council approved a padel court elsewhere in the borough last month.
