Oadby offices to be turned into flats
A block of offices in Oadby that is mostly lying vacant looks set to be turned into housing, with the confirmation that the council has given its approval to the plans.
Oadby and Wigston Borough Council gave the nod to plans for the conversion of this block, which dates back to the 1970s. The building in question is called Lyn House and it is situated on The Parade, Oadby. The application that was submitted to the council is seeking to create a total of 30 flats within the block, which has four storeys.
Those flats will be a mix of different sizes, with six of them set to have two bedrooms while the other 24 are one-bedroom dwellings. They will be spread across three floors of the block, with 10 on each floor.
The ground floor of the building is the only one to be occupied at the moment. It is in retail use, housing branches of Cafe Makaan, Specsavers and Holland and Barrett among others. According to the application, this will remain the same.
Brochure printing by shops in Oadby is one of the ways in which local property developers can show off their latest homes. It could potentially provide them with glossy brochures containing colour photographs of the homes.
The developer behind this project is a Mr Kullar. A start date is yet to be announced.
