Play based on true story to be staged in Macclesfield

The play 'Perfect Arrangement’, written by Topher Pane and performed by the MADS Theatre Company, is due to receive a run in Macclesfield in March.

It is set in America in 1950, when the colour lavender joined the 'Red Scare'. Two officials of the US State Department have been assigned the task of finding 'sexual deviants’ amongst their colleagues. However, both Norma and Bob are themselves gay and are married to one another's partners in order to conceal this fact.

Based on a real life story that took place at the time and encouraged the emergence of the movement for gay rights in America. It is a classic comedic situation that becomes a thought provoking drama as two apparently solidly American’ couples have to consider opening the closet door.

The play opened in June 2013 at Washington DC's Source Festival, directed then by Linda Lombardi, later transferring in September 2015 to off-Broadway at Primary Stages. 'The New York Times' reviewed it as:

'A clever canapé of a comedy... Mr. Payne is a deft and witty writer.'

Tickets will be available from Monday 16th February. Graphic design has an important contribution to make when it comes to the production of a stage play or theatrical event.

'Perfect Arrangement' runs from Monday 9th March to Saturday 14 March at MADS Theatre, Macclesfield.
