Cheshire East Council has recently revealed its plan for Macclesfield.
The council released the final draft of its aspirations for Macclesfield town centre. The plan highlighted development potential for housing, retail and office space. Printing services are often useful when regeneration is on the cards. The authorities have consulted widely prior to the production of the vision under discussion.
Chestergate is located near the centre of Macclesfield and the hope is that existing buildings can be refurbished. Some of the structures in the area may be used for new purposes in the future. Meanwhile, the car park at Jordangate is set to be modernised.
Churchill Way is likely to be transformed after a leisure project was not implemented. It is viewed as a particularly important route. The new policy is to make the boulevard into a green corridor. This should enhance the perceptions which visitors have of Macclesfield, in particular the dominance of the car. Pedestrians are set to benefit from these measures.
Sunderland Street has been selected as somewhere that should be able to cope with mixed-use development. Macclesfield’s Silk Quarter has been targeted in a similar way.
Not all the necessary work on the Plans has been completed. A scrutiny committee will report on the details, before the Cabinet of Cheshire East Council makes its formal decision in September.Get a Free Quote for Plans
