Charity appeal launched in Macclesfield

A fundraising drive could have a positive impact on Macclesfield.

Manchester-based cancer treatment centre Christie Hospital. Though faced with challenges since the pandemic began, aspires to develop a new treatment hub in Macclesfield. If an appeal succeeds, as many as 1,500 patients might gain from the scheme. Poster printing can be helpful for communication in the third sector, especially when fundraising is on the agenda.

The thinking behind the development of a Macclesfield Christie centre is that it would deliver care closer to where patients live. Louise Stimson is in charge of fundraising for the Christie, and told InYourArea:

“As a charity, we have been hit hard. The loss of income directly impacts the support we can offer the hospital. We have never needed our supporters more - each and every penny raised makes a difference.”

Stimson pointed out that fundraising activities have to be different this year, and the reality of COVID-19 means that she has been obliged to prioritise health and safety.

When it comes to specific activities, Stimson has come up with a special challenge. Participants in the scheme pledge to undertake six separate activities over the period of a year. There is no pressure on people to pursue large-scale fundraising. Those individuals who complete the six tasks will receive a medal for their efforts.
