Central Macclesfield to benefit from renovation project

The town centre of Macclesfield is getting a facelift.

Cheshire East Council is going to give Macclesfield’s centre something of a makeover. The project in question has been delayed by the pandemic for about a year. About six months of work shall be necessary to finish the job. Poster printing can be useful for communicating with the public, particularly when there is a need for clarity.

When the construction work is completed, Castle Street will benefit from fresh street furniture, bigger footways, and superior street lighting. The hope is that the public spending will attract private sector investment. A Cheshire East Council executive director, Frank Jordan, told Cheshire Live:

“The works will provide significant enhancements to this area and play an important role in unlocking the town’s true potential.”

It has been a tough time economically for many town centres because of the pandemic. The local economy of Macclesfield may well get a welcome boost from the council-led strategy. It appears that the Castle Street initiative fits in with the wider regeneration framework for Macclesfield.

Originally, the work was intended to begin in May 2020 but the pandemic proved to be disruptive. The council has explained that it was not possible to implement the scheme this winter. Even without the lockdown, delays might have been caused by poor weather and low temperatures.
