It is understood that the Macclesfield-based 130 bus route faced the axe. However, the service is going to be preserved, although fewer buses will travel on the route from next month. Printing services can be useful for providing the public with information, particularly when the details of an offer are subject to change.
Cheshire East Council recently announced that the 130 would keep running. Arriva North West might have pulled out of the provision of the service, but a fresh operator has stepped up to the plate. The Traffic Commissioner has received the required notification. The deputy leader of the council, Craig Browne, told Cheshire Live:
“The council is expecting the 130 service to be registered by another operator this week with no break in service. We understand the new service will operate on Monday to Friday, from Macclesfield to Handforth only, via Wilmslow.”
Councillor Browne explained that the input of residents had influenced the decisions under discussion. He pointed out that an online petition had complained about the potential termination of the 130. Over 1,300 signatures are believed to have been collected to put pressure on the authorities. Campaigner Helen Kerr stated that bus services can help local communities to thrive.
After January 26th, the 130 is unlikely to go all the way to East Didsbury. Commercial realities are probably set to prevent the buses from running along the rest of the route at weekends.
