Approval granted for Macclesfield housing plans

Plans to create new homes in Macclesfield by converting a block of offices into flats are set to go ahead, with the news that Cheshire East Council has given them the nod.

These Plans will see the block called Marburae House turned into four residential flats. This building is located in Athey Street, Macclesfield, and was formerly in commercial use, but has since been lying empty. The northern planning committee for Cheshire East Council opted to approve Plans for its conversion during a recent meeting, with six votes in favour of the idea.

There were some concerns raised regarding fire safety, but it was pointed out by Paul Wakefield, the planning officer, that building regulations fully addressed that issue. This is the second application for the block that has been submitted by the developers, as they previously failed to gain approval for a development with six flats.

Macclesfield graphic design outlets can be useful to housing developers by creating images that show what their proposed developments will look like for use at planning meetings.

The agent for this application, Ian Pleasant, was in attendance at the meeting. He told the councillors that those moving into the block would find that the flats provided them with well sized, quality accommodation.

A date for work on the conversion to get underway is still to be announced.
