The land is owned by Leicester City Council and is on Oxford Street. The local authority has agreed terms for its sale to National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). The latter wants to build the substation as part of a larger project to improve the electricity network across Leicester. NGED is putting a total of £5.3 million into that project.
After it has been completed, the facility will be a primary substation. It will significantly enhance the city’s network and will ensure that it is able to meet demand, both now and in the years to come. In addition, it will enable economic growth and development, through its support of Leicester City FC, De Montfort University and other key institutions.
When the local council is engaging in correspondence, it needs to make sure that its Stationery has a professional look. Leicester is home to outlets that can create Letterheads, to help with that.
James Bradley from NGED told Leicester Media:
“By strengthening the network, we’re making sure homes and businesses can rely on a resilient supply as the city develops.”
NGED will still have to secure planning permission. The council will also have to find alternative sites for the industrial commercial units that are on the land.
