Charity run returning to Leicester in 2026

People in Leicester will need to get their running shoes on again next spring, as an annual race in aid of charity returns to the city.

The Leicester 10k run is an event that attracts local people but also those from further afield. It is put together by Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All, which is a not-for-profit organisation. The idea is for people to have fun and test their limits while also raising money for good causes. Those entering the event can choose to run in aid of any charity of their preference.

In previous years, this event has managed to attract thousands of competitors to the city. It was initially launched as a way of honouring Jane Tomlinson, who was an amateur runner with breast cancer who raised more than £1 million for charity.

The 2026 Leicester 10k will be getting underway at Victoria Park. It will then follow a route that will see runners go past the likes of the New Walk Museum and the University of Leicester. It will finish up at Leicester Cathedral.

Spectators at events like this sometimes use banner printing by local shops so that they can support the runners with Banners.

Run for All operations director Tristan Batley-Kyle said that anyone who wanted to take part would be welcome.

The Leicester 10k for 2026 is scheduled to be held on 1 March.
