Shortlists revealed for Leicester Comedy Festival

The Leicester Comedy Festival is set to return to the city next month, and now the organisers have revealed which comics will compete for its prizes.

This festival always includes two comedy competitions – the UK Pun Championship and the Comedian of the Year. Both carry real prestige, with the latter in particular being much sought after. Nominations for it are made by other professionals in the industry and it has been won in previous years by the likes of Romesh Ranganathan and Johnny Vegas. Among the competitors this year will be Ciara O’Connor, Oliver Moore, Chloe Reynolds, Sydney May and Jack Kelly.

The shortlist for the UK Pun Championship includes Richard Stott, Katie Pritchard, Mary Cross, Adam Pickard and Nayim Ali. This competition has been a part of Leicester Comedy Festival for the past 12 years.

When it comes to promoting upcoming events in the city, Promotional Products that are created by Leicester shops can be a good way. These can be produced at low cost and then given away to people.

Charlotte Laidet is the director of Leicester Comedy Festival. Talking to the British Comedy Guide, she said:

“The festival is proud to continue to give a voice to new talent and bring people together through laughter.”

This year it will also feature a new contest called Circuit Breakers, for up-and-coming comics.

It runs between 4th and 22nd February.
