A number of disused factory buildings situated in the heart of Leicester are set to be transformed into a state-of-the-art centre for businesses, after Leicester City Council opted to approve the Plans.
The council first revealed the plans for the refurbishment of the Pilot House buildings over two years ago, and they were sent to the planning officers at the end of last year. The idea is to turn this King Street complex, which is made up of six buildings in total, into a hub for use by small businesses in the city.
Now the project will be able to move forward and it is expected to cost £11.4 million to realise. The buildings will be turned into a mix of workspaces and offices that cover 60,000 sq ft and that are suitable for use by small firms within the digital and creative sectors.
Small companies in Leicester already have useful services like places that provide printed Business Cards to support them, and this hub is likely to be another helpful resource.
Some sections of the Pilot House complex are to be knocked down as part of the transformation. However, many of the current floors, Signs and beams will be left in place.
