Patrick Cox, a 19-year-old table tennis player from Blaby in Leicestershire, will be getting involved with the poster initiative, which has the backing of Coca-Cola, in the hope of boosting attendance numbers.
Speaking ahead of his appearance at the games, Patrick told a local newspaper:
"The day with Coca-Cola was fantastic – I was filmed and photographed all morning and I loved it. I can't wait to show my friends my poster in Leicester and I can't believe I'm going to be up in Piccadilly Circus.
“I am quite modest and I don't like how I look in photographs, but it doesn't bother me. My mum keeps going on about seeing the video in Piccadilly Circus."
He went on to say that he is aiming for three medals at the competition, where he will be participating in the singles category as well as the mixed doubles and doubles games.
The Posters will be displayed around the country and may be created with the help of a printing company in Leicester.
Patrick will be appearing at the Special Olympics in Bath from August 28. The athlete suffers from paralysis in his left side and tunnel vision and hopes that the advertising campaign will encourage more differently abled people to take up sports.
