The Mercury Jobs Fair, which was held at the Curve theatre, was hailed a success after more than 2,000 people turned up, despite there only being 200 job openings available.
All types of careers were promoted - both part time and full time - and people with varying degrees of experience were catered for. Industria Personnel, a recruitment agency, sponsored the event.
Among the employers present at the fair were other organisations which could offer help with recruitment, such as Affinity Trust, an agency which helps adults who have learning disabilities. According to the divisional director of the company, Simon Ketteridge, Affinity Trust has attended two career events in Leicester. He also said:
“This year was a great opportunity for us to engage with candidates, talk through the expectations of roles in more detail and outline the induction, training and support that’s provided at Affinity Trust.”
Towards the end of the event, 30 people had been invited to attend an interview with the company. Richard Clay, the sales director of Mercury said that stall holders had given positive feedback and that the event would be held twice next year.
