Colourful mural to be created in Leicester

A colourful new mural is set to be created at a site in Leicester, with the news that the council has given its approval to the project.

The completed work will honour the history of Hindus, and the company behind it is called Inspirate. This design firm applied to Leicester City Council for permission to create the mural and will now be able to move forward with the project. The locale that has been chosen for it is Belgrave, which is part of Leicester’s Golden Mile. The mural will be painted on the substation at Doncaster Road.

In the documents that were submitted as part of the application, it is stated that once the artwork has been painted, it will be covered with waterproof coating. The hope is that this will be enough to ensure it survives for at least a decade.

Murals of this sort often end up becoming popular tourist attractions, and brochure printing by Leicester shops can provide visitors with useful information about them.

According to BBC News, the planning application says that:
“The design aims to bring the streetscape to life and showcases a dancing Leicester tiger as a symbol of civic and cultural pride to create a joyful, happy and colourful design that brings a smile and laugh to people passing.”

No start date for the work has been announced yet.
