Having treated audiences to memorable performances for over 30 years, Kingfisher Chorale are known for their diverse performances, from famous music to smaller scale works.
Their newest performance goes under the moniker ‘¡ AY ANDAR !’ and showcases the music which originated from the former Spanish colonies in South and North America. The performance will feature instruments such as authentic sackbutts, cornetts and viols, as well as percussion. The organisers said that the concert:
“Explores this music and its variety of roots. More traditional Baroque features one would recognise from Spain and Italy, are combined with rhythms, instruments, language and dances to create unique and vibrant music. Through our performance we will experience the blending of styles in both the religious and secular music of the New Spain.”
The musical director is Giles Turner, who boasts a wealth of multinational experience, and is an talented tenor himself. Turner was the musical director of the Leicester Bach Choir and Director of the Daventry Choral Society, and has overseen a number of world premieres. Concerts are often promoted within the local community using flyer printing.
Kingfisher Chorale will perform ‘¡ AY ANDAR !’ at the St John the Baptist C of E Church on Saturday, 13th April from 7.30pm to 10pm. Tickets start from £8 and are available online.
