Moose Jaw Humane Society needs help

As summer approaches, the Moose Jaw Humane Society has put out an urgent call asking for people to foster kittens or other animals in need.

The shelter takes in many orphaned kittens, and the staff cares for them for several weeks until they are ready to be adopted. As one would expect, this can take up a lot of their time, and having more foster homes would alleviate some of this stress.

The need for more temporary spaces becomes more urgent this time of year, as it’s when many of the staff members may take a holiday. This means there will be fewer people trying to do the work. It’s also the part of year when more orphaned kittens are brought in.

Having a place of their own to grow up is better for them, as after the 6-8 weeks they spend in foster care, they will have been vaccinated and will be less susceptible to the viruses than can spread through the shelter.

Cats that need a quiet place to recover from surgery would also benefit.

The Humane Society provides all the supplies and covers the veterinary costs. A person can choose what type of animal they wish to foster, as well as what level of care they can give.

A flyer printing company can help to get the word out about the urgent need for foster homes.

Anyone wishing further information about the program is asked to contact the Humane Society.
