The play is described as a cozy romantic story set on a winter night. The play, written by John Cariani, premiered in Portland, Maine in 2004 and has since become one of the most produced scripts in North America. This production will involve 15 actors selected through auditions from the Moose Jaw community.
Almost, Maine is the middle portion of the Moose Jaw Community Players’ 2025-26 season, following the Christmas production of “Holmes for the Holidays”. The company is also currently looking for actors for its spring production, an updated version of “Notoriously Moose Jaw”, a musical about the city’s history.
The Almost, Maine production will be a limited engagement with just two shows on Valentine’s Day weekend, an evening show and a matinee. Community theatrical productions use methods like flyer printing and social media to help connect with the community, with Almost, Maine tickets having been advertised as a holiday present. The Community Players’ mission is described as:
