River Street was a centre of revelry in the early 20th century, with many tall tales and urban legends attached to it. The upcoming concert, titled “An Evening with Trick Ryder: Remembering the Royal & River Street”, will hope to summon the same spirit with a high-energy Trick Ryder performance, led by Moose Jaw native Kelly Bourdages. The veteran group is known for honky-tonk performances throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta.
The concert will also be conjuring the memory of infamous hotel the Royal and other landmarks like the Brunswick and Nevada Nickels through set decoration and stories. This show will also feature special guest stars in Tracy Tressel and the Andrei family of Darrell, Angie and Brandon. Concerts like this often use methods like poster printing and radio advertising to help attract local music lovers. Promotional material emphasizes the community nature of the show:
“Expect a crowd full of those who remember it all, or wish they had. Come share a laugh, sing along, and relive the nights when music spilled out onto the street.”
“An Evening with Trick Ryder: Remembering the Royal & River Street” will take place on the evening of October 3 at the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture.
