The Parkinson Superwalk will take place at South Fletchers Sportsplex on September 8 and 9. Over 14,000 people in 95 communities throughout Canada will be taking part in various walks, with proceeds going to support the Parkinson Society Canada. This year's goal is to raise $3 million.
Participants can either walk as individuals or form a team and all ages are welcomed. Those who register raise pledges from friends, family, and work colleagues, which can be received both online and off. Depending on how much money is raised by a walker or a team, there are incentive prizes such as T-Shirts, hats, Roots gift cards, and ballots for the National Grand Prize Draw.
Local companies can treat the Superwalk as a team building exercise for their employees. Brampton printing companies could provide partaking businesses with certificates of completion suitable for framing. In addition, businesses could offer their employees further incentives to take part in the walk, such as days off work or a gift card. The winners could be those who pledged or raised the most money.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the brain. Those inflicted with it have such symptoms as tremors, slow walking, poor balance, and stiff muscles. Over 100,000 Canadians are currently affected by the condition and the Superwalk has raised over $25 million dollars since 1990. The money has gone towards research, education about the disease, support for those who suffer from Parkinson's, and their families and raising public awareness about the disease.Get a Free Quote for T-Shirts
