Brampton festival to Grow Green

Brampton will be celebrating World Environment Day this June with the Grow Green Festival, recognizing businesses and individuals that have contributed to the local ecosystem.

The festival will include a number of activities aimed to help people connect to nature. There will be a native plant giveaway for those looking to get started with gardening, and a clothing swap to promote re-use. Younger visitors can check out the Kids Table and visit mascot Buzz the Bee. Cyclists can get ready for the summer with the Bike Tune-Up station, with experts taking care of small issues on their bicycle while they enjoy the festival.

Local conservation organizations like Ontario Streams and the Community Council will have representatives to talk about area environmental issues and how individuals can help out. Nonprofit groups and exhibitors often use booklet and brochure printing at events like this to help provide more information to community members.

The afternoon will also include the Grow Green Awards Ceremony, a biennial prize recognizing businesses, individuals and organizations in Brampton that have exhibited environmental leadership. Categories include the Stewardship Award, Environmental Legacy Award, and Environmental Youth Award, with nominees selected from the community. Snacks will be provided while supplies last.

The 2026 Grow Green Festival will take place on the afternoon of June 6 at the Jim Archdekin Rec Center in Brampton.
