Disc-throwing Masters headed to Brampton

The Canadian Ultimate Championships will be bringing their Masters event to Brampton this July, with top players from around the country competing.

Ultimate, also known as ultimate Frisbee, is a team competition where players score by throwing a disc to a teammate in the end zone. It has become a popular youth and counterculture sport in North America, known for a friendly atmosphere. Each team will play at least 7 games across the weekend, culminating in a championship play-off.

The Masters competition is open to men 33 years or older and women 30 and up, and will feature a maximum of 16 mixed-gender teams, 10 “open” and 10 women’s. Teams will qualify through regional competitions across Canada. Top players and countries can be selected to represent their country in global championships. It is one of the CUC’s four major annual events, alongside the Juniors, Seniors and Grand Masters championships.

The CUC event is expected to bring hundreds to Brampton, partnering with local airlines and hotels as well as Sheridan College. Amateur sporting events like this often use banner printing and naming rights to recognize the contribution of sponsors and organizers. The event also aims to welcome in family, friends, fans, and curious locals with a full spectator experience.

The 2026 Canadian Ultimate Championship Masters will take place at Creditview Sandalwood Park in Brampton from July 24 to 26.
