The Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA) in Brampton is presenting two exhibits from well-received Canadian artists early in the new year - both will be on display from January to March.
The first, entitled ‘George Walker's The Mysterious Death of Tom Thomson’, will feature over 100 hand-printed engravings of the accomplished printmaker. The inspiration for 7these works was the mysterious 1917 death of Tom Thomson in Algonquin Park; he was a colleague of the artists who later became known as The Group of Seven.
The ‘True Patriot: the Next Generation of Canadian Superheroes’ exhibit is dedicated to the extremely popular comic book anthology of the same name. The show will feature original artworks in pencil and ink, as well as digital formatted pieces. Visitors will also have a chance to study the process of creating this type of art.
Those who work for printing companies or graphics design firms in the Brampton area may want to check out these two exhibits. The events should give them some ideas that they can eventually use in their own work. They should also be of interest to members of the public who wish to know more about Canadian artists.
Both exhibits are running at PAMA from January 12 until March 30. The museum is open seven days a week. Admission is $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for students and seniors and free for children aged five and under; a family pass is $10. For more information about the gallery, call 905-791-4055.
