The 35th annual Carabram multicultural festival will be returning to Brampton this month.
Around 35,000 visitors from the Greater Toronto Area are expected to take part in the festival, which celebrates the many cultures found in Brampton and across Canada.
Carabram started in 1982, with four pavilions dedicated to Italy, the Indies, Ukraine and Scotland. The goal of the festival was to celebrate cultures and promote appreciation for Brampton’s unique population. Each year the festival grew larger, and now it includes more than 40 countries.
Visitors are welcome to experience as many pavilions as they choose. Each unique pavilion showcases the culture’s music and dance, as well as special historical artifacts and clothing. Traditional cuisine will also be found, with food and drinks prepared on site.
Many different sponsorship opportunities for the festival are available, and new applicants are welcome. Most packages include appearance on all festival Print media, like Posters, Banners and Signs, as well as the passport provided to each festival ticket holder.
Volunteers are needed for this event, and interested candidates should apply on the festival’s website. Students may use their volunteer hours towards the high school diploma community service requirement.
Brampton’s Century Gardens Recreation Centre on Vodden Street East will host the event, with four other venues also providing facilities.
Carabram will be held on Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 16. Presale passport tickets are $10 through the website, or are available at the door for $12. Children under 12 can attend free of charge.
