Brampton to get new schools

Brampton recently received some welcome news: The provincial government announced that it would be funding the construction or improvements for four schools in the city, and two of these will include spaces for licensed childcare.

The news about the improvements to the education system in the community was made during a visit by the provinces Education Minister to St. Bonaventure Catholic School. She informed the public that funding has been approved for projects at both the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel District School Board.

The Peel board will be granted $65 million to build three new elementary level schools in the city of Brampton, and Esker Lake Public School will be getting a classroom addition.

The new institutions are intended to meet the needs of the northeast and northwest Brampton communities, and a target date for them to be ready for students is September of 2016. Each of these is designed for 873 students. The monies for the Catholic school board will allow them to erect a new elementary school in the northwestern portion of the city, which is set to open in 2017 and have space for 553 pupils. A newsletter printing company can produce materials to send out to all the families in the areas that will be served by the schools so they can be kept abreast of the latest developments.

The new Catholic school and one of public ones will have licensed childcare spaces.
