Event planners know that crowd safety is an important consideration when organizing an activity. Brampton’s Event Safety Alliance understands the challenges that can go along with this, and has created a two-day symposium addressing the issue.
Participants will look at crowd safety from several perspectives with a focus on psychology, math, human behavior and physics. They will learn how these can all be used to create a situation that is safe for an event’s attendees, including how traffic flow can be managed.
Learners will discover the difference between managing a crowd and crowd control, as well as the main risks that can be part of managing an audience or large group. Flow rates will be discussed as will the different phases a crowd will usually go through. Computer modeling is also on the agenda, as is a review of the behaviors that can affect the way people will tend to act when part of a large gathering.
While the goal for event planning is to create a safe function that goes off as expected, sometimes emergencies can occur. Participants will review what steps to take in an emergency, and also how good planning can help to keep the situation under control. Print shops will be able to supply any printed learning materials needed for this sort of function, including bound manuals.
The Crowd Safety Workshop, which will be led by crowd safety expert Eric Stewart, will be held on November 25th and 26th at the Brampton Fire and Emergency Services Centre, 129 Glidden Road.Get a Free Quote for Print
