Brampton firm wins large military contract

General Kinetics Engineering Corp. announced on January 21 that it has been awarded a large sub-contract to help modernize light-armored military vehicles through the Canadian forces Light Armoured Vehicle III Upgrade Project. The announcement was made during a news conference which was held at the company's East Drive location.

The corporation was sub-contracted by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada which won a $1 billion contract from the Canadian government in 2011 to upgrade military vehicles. The two companies have had a working relationship for the past 15 years to provide help and support for Canada's military.

General Kinetics will be manufacturing the vehicle struts for the vehicles’ suspension systems. The contract is worth $16.76 million and will provide over 100 man years of work. The president and CEO of General Kinetics, Chuck Williamson, states that this contract means that the company will not have to lay off any of its 100-strong work force. Also, any money the company makes from the project must be reinvested in future Canadian business activity.

This contract will not only help the company's bottom line but will also trickle down into the local economy. No doubt General Kinetics has been working with Brampton printing companies to help let their suppliers and other customers know about this contract and how it might affect them. A flyer or a simple postcard can let people know about the contract and how it is expected to help the economy of the entire area.
