One of the founding members of the Brampton Men’s Horseshoe Club was Elwood Pembleton, and an event planned in his honour has been scheduled by the organization for this summer.
Pembleton helped to found the group back in 1978, and the Elwood Pembleton Memorial Open Singles Tournament, which is being held in his memory, will welcome both men and women. All ages can participate, and the players will be placed into divisions based on their average.
The day will kick off with registration starting at 9:30am, and the games themselves will begin at 10:00am sharp. Monetary prizes will be awarded in each of the divisions.
To help keep everyone on top form, both burgers and jumbo hot dogs, along with condiments, will be available, as well as bottled water and pop. In case of inclement weather, the tournament will be rescheduled to next day. The entry fee is $10 each.
Along with a cash prize, the organizers of this type of activity often present those who achieve a top score with a trophy or other corporate gift to recognize their achievement. Items like these are available from a printer in the area.
This chance for those who enjoy playing horseshoes to put their skills to the test against other players will be held on July 17th. The Brampton’s Men’s Horseshoe Club will serve as the venue for the day.
