Brampton Bulldogs bring holiday cheer to kids in hospital

Children who had to spend their holidays in the Brampton Civic Hospital had a visit from a local sports team who wanted to help make their stay a little bit easier.

The Brampton Bulldogs

stopped by the health care facility bearing a range of gifts for the kids, including toys, recreational equipment and other items. They were distributed amongst the patients in the pediatric ward.

The team held a fundraising campaign over a three week period to help buy the presents for the children, and according to Josie Parnis, a hospital child life worker:

“A lot of them are in isolation and cannot interact in a play room type setting. These toys will make them happy in their rooms.”

She further went on to say that people are not aware that there is not a lot of money in the budget to buy toys for the kids, so something like this goes a long way towards bringing a smile to the faces of the children, making a difficult time in their lives a little bit easier. Cheerful Holiday Cards can be included with each gift.

This is the first time that the Brampton Bulldogs undertook a campaign to help the pediatric patients. Head coach Stephen Cadden feels it was a great success, and hopes they will be able to do it again next year.
