Brampton bikers unite to help local kids

Motorcycle riders from Brampton and the surrounding communities recently came together to help make the lives of local kids a little bit brighter.

The Brampton Motorcycle Association held their 34th annual Toy Parade. Participants each contributed one new toy or $25 to take part, and they also collected toys along the route that they donated to the pediatric ward at the Brampton Civic Hospital and the Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program.

Some even decorated their bikes with teddy bears and other stuffed items to help draw attention to their efforts. A banner printing firm can help to make a difference by producing Banners and other items that can help to let the public know what they are doing and how they can help.

A pancake breakfast was held to help kick off the day, with the parade starting at 11:00 am. The 30km route wound its way through the city, with the riders keeping a relatively low speed so that they could pick up donations and interact with the community. Once they were finished, the participants enjoyed a lunch, as well as music a 50/50 draw, a silent auction and a draw for door prizes.

The first such ride took place in 1982, and raised $753. The tradition has continued through the years, and all told, it has raised over $100,000 and collected hundreds of toys.
