Annual motorcycle ride collects toys for kids

The Toy Ride Parade, hosted by the Brampton Motorcycle Association, is returning to the city for its 33rd year this August.

The ride collects toys for the Salvation Army's Toys for Tots program and also helps the Brampton Civic Hospital's Pediatric Ward.

Last year's installment consisted of 160 motorcycles and 30 passengers. It raised approximately $8,000 for the hospital and collected 350 toys. Since the ride began in 1983, the organization has raised over $50,000.

The ride is 30 kilometers long and the motorcycle riders are accompanied by a Salvation Army truck that collects new, unwrapped toys. They will also be given a police escort for the first time in 10 years.

The day will start off with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Salvation Army, which will take place during registration. Later, there will be a barbecue, a 50/50 draw, a silent auction, door prizes, and awards.

In order to make the residents of Brampton aware of the ride, organizers may be investing in services such as flyer printing. These can either be sent out through the mail or distributed to public buildings.

The Toy Ride Parade will start and end at the Brampton Soccer Center on August; registration begins at 8:00am and the ride starts at 11:00am. To learn more about this event, contact Mike Davis at 905-456-2968.
