Being home on their own is often the first step on the road to responsibility for Winnipeg kids, and thanks to an upcoming workshop, parents can be confident that they can be left home alone safely.
The “Home Alone Workshop” will be an opportunity for kids between the ages of 10 and 17 to brush up on safety skills, and the focus will be on how young people can be safe when they are alone at home. Both residents and non-residents of Winnipeg can participate, and the registration fee starts at $32 for those who live in the city.
The workshop will address a variety of topics, with home safety, fire safety and what to do should an emergency occur all being on the agenda. It will take place at the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, and a COVID-19 screening will need to be undertaken by each registrant before they attend the session.
Being part of an event like this can help to give peace of mind to parents. Take-home manuals for such an activity can be prepared by Print shops, which can also craft certificates of participation for the attendees.
The date for the Home Alone Workshop has been set for December 5th, and registration is now open. Further details have been made available on the Active Communities website.
