Winnipeg workshop provides scoop on pollinators

Monarchs, in the “brushfoot” family of butterflies, are well known for their annual migration, and a Winnipeg workshop led by subject matter expats will offer a glimpse into their lives.

The Monarch Teacher Network will be providing the chance to learn about monarchs and other pollinators, and tickets are $30.00 each. It has been scheduled for the Tannis M. Richardson Classroom at The Leaf, and the information shared can be used right away.

The presenter for the session will explain why pollinators are so important to both the natural and human worlds, and everyone can learn how techniques such as plant selection, providing water and shelter and making other garden additions may be helpful. Bees, butterflies, birds, beetles and others will all be discussed, and everyone will walk away with a flowering plant they can pot up once they get home. The final date to register is April 10th.

Environmental stewardship doesn't have to be complicated, and taking part in a workshop may show how easy it can be. A brochure printing company can supply additional learning materials as well as seed packets, climate zone guides and other custom items.

The Monarch Teacher Network will be sharing their knowledge of these important insects on April 12th. It will run from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The venue can be found at 145 The Leaf Way.
