Pollinators range from tiny sweat and cuckoo bees, to larger birds, beetles, butterflies, moths and other species, and an upcoming activity will give Winnipeg’s busy bees a tip of the hat.
Winnipeg is home to many species of bees, and they will be the main focus of a late May workshop, which is being held in National Pollinator Week. The ‘Welcome to the Magical World of Bees!’ event will be led by an entomologist, who will provide plenty of information about these members of the Hymenoptera family and the important role they play.
The two-hour activity will include details about how bees collect and utilize pollen and why this matters so much. The attendees will learn how they can offer these pollinators a helping hand by providing them with food and living spaces, and details will be shared for how they have adapted “pollen baskets” and other physical traits to become successful in a variety of ecosystems.
A brochure printing company can craft handouts and other materials for an educational activity such as this one.
The Welcome to the Magical World of Bees! Event is scheduled for May 25th. It will get started at 1:00 pm. Advance registration is not needed, and it will be held in the Richardson Interpretive Centre at 1961 McCreary Road. Entry is included with FortWhyte Alive admission, and members of FortWhyte Alive can attend for free.
