Winnipeg to run tree ID workshop

There are many species of both native and introduced trees that call Winnipeg home, and a walking workshop will introduce them to the public.

Crescent Drive Park is about to be paid a visit by the participants in a Tree ID (identification) workshop class that will take place at the venue. It will be led by CPAWS Manitoba Environmental Educator Carly Gray, and everyone will be able to put their new skills to use during the activity.

The workshop will explore the use of a variety of identification apps as well as field guides and other useful tools, and it is geared towards the beginner. Everyone is asked to bring their phone, tablet or other device so they can download and install the apps that will be used as well as a pen or pencil for making notes. Closed-toed walking shoes are recommended as are long pants, and the registrants will be meeting up at site 3 at the venue. Both children and adults may take part.

The Manitoba Tree Field Guide can be a valuable tool for those hoping to brush up their ID skills and Copies will be distributed for the attendees in the session to take home and keep. Printed learning materials for a class or other activity can be prepared by Stationery printers.

This introduction to the art and science of tree ID will begin at 6:00 pm on July 2nd. Tickets start at $14.11 for adults and $7.72 for kids.
