Winnipeg invited to discover joys of native plants

Gardening with native species is a popular trend, and a Winnipeg workshop will show just how easy it can be to incorporate such species into the typical home landscape.

Nature Manitoba has organized an April activity that will introduce the concept of working with plant species native to the area. It is scheduled for the Earl Grey Community Centre, and a small fee will be charged to both members and non-members alike.

The class will introduce several plants that are native to the Winnipeg area, and Marilyn Latta, who will be the instructor for the workshop, will discuss how and where they can be utilized, and also why this is important. She will explore how they can be added to an existing planting or have a bed prepared to meet their specific needs, and the run time for the workshop is one and half hours.

A learning activity like this one can provide a lot of information in a small amount of time. Handouts make it easier for the attendees to keep on learning even after it has drawn to a close, and they can be prepared by a brochure printing company.

The Gardening with Native Plants session will be offered on Monday, April 1st. It will be held at 360 Cockburn Street North Winnipeg, starting at 7:30 pm.
