The Radisson Hotel in downtown Winnipeg is playing host to members of a unique bird family this summer, and fans are being invited to watch their comings and goings.
Two peregrine falcons named Princess and Smiley have chosen to make a nest on one of the building’s ledges, and a webcam has been set up so the public can keep an eye on them.
The birds returned to the city back in March, and started building the home for their new family in April.
The pair have been using this nesting site for several years, and so far, Princess has parented 32 chicks. Princess hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota, while Smiley was hatched in North Dakota in the town of Grand Falls.
The live web camera has been set up by the Peregrine Falcon Recovery Project, which has been operating it since 2006. The organization was set up in 1981 and has been working since then to build a strong population of these birds of prey that is able to sustain itself. Brochure printers make a difference by creating pamphlets and Flyers that let the public know what they can do to help the birds survive.
The organization’s efforts have resulted in at least 300 chicks being added to the wild population. As adults, they have raised their own families all across the Canadian and American Midwest.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
