What's Happening in Winnipeg, MB…

Royal visit to Winnipeg

Winnipeg royal watchers recently got a rare opportunity to see some up close.

Prince Charles and Camilla arrived at 17 Wing, where they were met by the Premier of the province along with the city’s mayor, the heritage minister, the Lt.-Gov., various members of the military, and a group of reporters.

On the evening of Tuesday, 20th May, they visited Government house, and they paused to say a few words to the dozen or so people waiting outside in the wind and rain to catch a glimpse of the couple.

The royal visit only lasted a day, but it was full of activities.

They came to several different places, including the Winnipeg Zoo, The Royal Winnipeg ballet, Red River College, a downtown innovation hub, and a dozen or so other locations.

There was a more formal walkabout at Government House, where the crowd was able to get a better chance to see the couple. After that, Charles and Camilla visited the Western Canada Aviation Museum, where they saw a restored 1928 Fokker Super Universal aircraft.

At the end of the evening, they left CFB Winnipeg for England.

Despite the bad weather, there was still a good turnout from the public.

A visit like this can be a once in a lifetime opportunity for people to see members of the Royal Family. A print company can create souvenir booklets so they will always remember their special day.
