Casting call goes out to Winnipeg

Aspiring actors form throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area recently came out in droves for the opportunity to be an extra in the newest Dennis Quaid movie.

The film, entitled “A Dog’s Purpose”, will be shot in the city over a period of 50 days, from August through until October. A call was put out for 2,000 paid extras that would be needed to fill roles in the film.

According to Kari Rieger, who spoke for Kari Casting, people started lining up really early on the morning of the auditions, some even showing up at 7:30 AM. She went on to say that this has been the most ambitious project that the firm has ever tackled in the area.

The movie, which is set in the Midwestern United States, needed extras that looked the part of “wholesome” looking actors and actresses, as well as those who could fit in with the style that was popular in the 60s and 70s. To help keep things organized for an event like this, a printing company can produce application Forms, signage, nametags, printed contract blanks, and much more.

Over 1,000 people came out to audition, which meant that the casting agency had to put in some overtime to meet with them all. Those who came out noted to CBC News that it was exciting to be considered for the project.
