The warmer winter in Winnipeg has resulted in fewer burst pipes on both city and private property, according to recent reports.
Over the course of the last winter season, the pipes froze on more than 2500 properties, with some people going weeks with no water and others having to run hot water for weeks, in a bid to thaw out the icy pipes while waiting for city crews to come and fix the problem.
By January 6th last year, the month had already seen 46 properties reporting frozen pipes on the private side of their standpipe, with one on the city’s side. As of the same point this month, there had only been four reports in total.
The city crews have been monitoring the frost depth, and a Global News report from January 6th said it was at about four feet. Once it reaches eight feet, the lines can begin to freeze. If and when that happens, customers will be called directly to let them know what to do to.
The cold is a part of a Winnipeg winter that can’t be avoided, but burst pipes can be. Print companies can help by printing Brochures that explain the problem and what steps property owners can take to protect themselves.
Residents can call the city if they are having an issue with heir pipes, and authorities will be able to respond within 24 hours. This can help to deal with a problem while it is still small and manageable.Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Print
