Walk for those with kidney problems

The Fraser Valley Kidney Walk will take place at Bear Creek Park on August 12 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All proceeds go to support the Kidney Foundation of Canada. There is a choice of either a 2.5km or a 5km walk. In addition, there will be food and refreshments available and an auction will take place afterwards.

The Kidney Walk takes place in several communities in British Columbia. Those who take part can receive participation awards and incentive prizes which, depending on how many pledges are received, can include a T-shirt or a gift card.

No doubt local Surrey businesses will be donating items for the silent auction. Those businesses may also consider working with local printing companies to help publicize this event and their part in it. They could create a flyer to send out to their customers describing the Kidney Walk and asking people to either donate money to the cause or take part in the walk themselves. This would show the customers that the company cares about the community in which it is located and might encourage more people to shop with them.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is run completely by volunteers. Their mission is to fund research, provide education on kidney disease, promote access to healthcare, and to convince the general public to consider donating their kidneys to someone who desperately needs a new one. Taking part in the Fraser Valley Kidney Walk is a great way to spend a day and will be the perfect opportunity to teach children about the importance of helping others.
